LeCates Memorial Scholarship

We believe ministry is a frontline career. Pastors are often the first ones to encounter people in need of help. They are truly in the battle with those they serve. The LeCates Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Bruce and Janice LeCates, who wanted to support and encourage pastors through educational scholarships, as well as grants for enrichment, counseling, sabbaticals, and personal development. The scholarship is for the ministers of the Chesapeake District of The Wesleyan Church.

Qualifications 

  1. Ministerial students in their senior year of study at an approved institution are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship.

  2. Ordained, licensed and ministerial students pursuing an MA in a ministry major or MDIV at an approved institution are eligible for a $1,500 scholarship.

  3. Ordained, licensed, and ministerial students pursuing a doctorate at an approved institution are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship. 

  4. Clergy Care Scholarships are open to Wesleyan ministers, licensed and ordained, serving in the Chesapeake District to cover expenses associated with any partnership program of the Wesleyan Education & Clergy Care to help clergy thrive in ministry.

  5. There is a lifetime cap of $6,000 for anyone receiving a scholarship from this fund.
