Chesapeake Continuing Education
Did you know your people are longing to figure out how to better read, understand, and apply God's Word? In a shaky world, they need the firm foundation of God's Word living and active in their lives. As their pastor, they are grateful for what you provide from the Bible on Sunday, but we need to be able to offer more.
Join us for our next Chesapeake Continuing Education called Scripture Matters on Saturday, March 1. Together, we will learn from Dr. Dave Smith how to do more for our people than just hand them a Bible and hope for the best. You will leave with tons of help for your own unpacking of Scripture and how to teach that to your people.
We will be meeting at the Hyatt Place Kent Narrows & Marina in Grasonville, MD, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The day is free for you! Please RSVP by February 20.

Dr. Dave Smith has been a professor of the Bible for the past 3+ decades at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wesley Biblical Seminary, Wesley Seminary, Kingswood University (Canada), and Indiana Wesleyan University. He says he's a pastor masquerading as a professor! He cares for people’s hearts and souls just as much as their minds.
He has been married to Angie for 43 years. They have two grown children and five grandchildren. Dave and Angie have pastored two churches. They love local church ministry, and more so, they feel that serving in the local church is a prerequisite for teaching current and future pastors. Dave also serves in The Wesleyan Church as a Crossroads District Circuit Rider. Just like John Wesley, he travels from church to church pouring into the lives of local church pastors.
He is passionate about the gospels and Paul's letters, and he has done extensive study and teaching in the Hebrew Bible. Dave and Angie have traveled around the world teaching and doing leadership development. For the past 15 years, they have been working in local church-based community development in Malawi, Africa, through Circle of Hope International.
Dave is recently retired from full-time teaching at IWU and has started a new ministry called True^North. It’s a local church disciple-making program centered around training laity to read, interpret, and apply the Scriptures in small Wesley-style accountability groups which facilitates life transformation.
